Breaking News: Rochas Okorocha Under Fire - Read Shocking Details

Former Imo State House of Assembly members and Council Chairmen (FIHOC) has strongly condemned the mass sack of civil servants by the State government.

The group described the move as anti-people, unjustifiable and a sharp contradiction to the government’s much hyped 2016 massive job creation agenda.

A statement issued after an executive meeting of FIHOC, by the forum’s Director of Public Communications, Hon. Ray Emeana in Owerri, stressed that the government had no reason for embarking on any retrenchment of workers over the claim that the monthly allocation had dropped to N 1.9billion, when it had failed to tell Imo people what the monthly allocation was before this time.

The statement recalled that aside from the normal monthly allocations for last year, the government also received a bail out of N26.8billion from the federal government for the payment of salaries and pensions, noting that inspite of that the government still owes workers and pensioners.

The group regretted that whereas the Ohakim government handed over substantial amount to the Okorocha administration in 2011, “It appears that the government squandered all it earned in the first four years and handed over nothing to itself hence she is unable to pay salaries from the commencement of its second tenure.”
