Primary school students were thrown to panic and ran helter-skelter after a pupil allegedly turned to a snake during morning school assembly.
It was a shocking incident in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe as students ran out of their classrooms after the sudden appearance of a snake during school assembly. It was alleged that a student of the school fell down and started moving like a snake. The incident left many of the students injured in the fracas.
Speaking about what really happened, a reliable source who spoke to B-Metro said: “It’s not really clear what caused the children to run away from school because there are two different versions both involve a snake,” said the source.
He went on:”When they were at the assembly point,it’s said one pupil fell down and started moving like a snake resulting in teachers and pupils scurrying.
“Some pupils claim it was a real snake and they ran away after seeing it. Others just screamed and followed the rest,” he said.
The incident caused the school management to cancel school lessons for the day. Esther Nyathi, a parent is one of the many who went to take their children at the school.
Bulawayo Provisional Education Director Dan Moyo is yet to confirm the school in which the incident took place as he said he had not yet received the report from the school headmaster. School resumed on the next day.
