A brilliant picture did the rounds on social media towards the end of the Euro 2016 final.

As Portugal closed out their 1-0 win over France, Cristiano Ronaldo was snapped on the sidelines performing his favourite Sir Alex Ferguson impression.

Fergie was famed during his time at Old Trafford for pointing at his watch in the final stages of matches. 

Ronaldo mimicked his former United boss with an identical pose in the Euro final.

A video was filmed in the Stade de France after Portugal lifted the European Championship trophy.

As the players descended the stairs, Sir Alex Ferguson was waiting in the stands to greet the victors.

The Scot made an effort to connect with the Portugal players he knew, including former United midfielder Luis Nani and Real Madrid’s Pepe.

But Fergie’s best celebration waited for Ronaldo, as the pair embraced like a father and son.
