A Twitter user, @Ade_toun has narrated a story of house four ss1 students reportedly gang-raped their female classmate, after they took an alcoholic drink called “gegemu” in Ogun State.
Adetoun is a corp member who is currently serving in the school. She revealed the drink is made from fermented paw-paw, and the student who smuggled the drink into the school, made 30liters of the drink.

So in my ppa here in Abeokuta, some ss1 students tried to be big boys and girl, they went to drink gegemu. Gegemu is an alcoholic drink that is made of fermented paw paw. They made 30 litres and smuggled it in because school security is rubbish.
30 foolish ones took part in the whole party and gegemu is not anybody’s friend, it will knock you out and make a mad man of you. But there was only one girl in the whole party, the gegemu maker’s bae. A tom boy without fore sight.
So the so called tom boy who was inebriated by the gegemu was carried to the nearest stream where about four boys took turn in raping her. She passed out and the boys left her there, meanwhile the rest of the party was already displaying orishirishi for the town.
One threw ofada rice out of its leaves and ate the leave instead. Another one ran into the main road and was hit by a bus. The rape victim was found by a team of teachers who went in search of the drunks, she also has no memory of her rape.
These are ss1 students and I’m her wondering if I should wail or not. All thirty of them will be handed over to the police. There are more people that took the drink because some very wicked senior students mixed it with viju milk and distributed it somehow.
Back to the victim, her teacher said this is not the first time she’ll drunk and get raped because those boys know alcohol is her weakness. The boys put her head in the stream so it will seem like she passed out there. These kids are mostly 15/16 and I’m baffled for many reasons.
Some teachers are excusing the rapists and they called the girl names and were even beating her. Even the school’s counsellors joined in. And they threatened to expel her if a pregnancy came out of it. Nobody was looking to identify the rapists until I brought it up with the VP.
